New to the forum....looking for a mentor or mentors

Hi,

I'm new to the forum and would like to meet and discuss making the plunge into the cruising life. I've been sailing for many, many years, but my dream has always been to cut my ties (partially) with land and live aboard and cruise.

It there an individual or group that could offer me advice on everything from expenses, how to begin to break the ties, find the right used boat, and stay on budget?

I would love to find a mentor or group that could help me on this journey.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Are you a cute and available female? Do you like to drink (within reasonable limits), dance and party?
If not, lurk and take notes.
Welcome to the forum.

Would help if you gave a general location. Person to person would be much better than typing on this site. You could consider this site as your mentor though you'll have filter out what works for you as we seldom agree completely anything.

Hi LDJ and welcome to the forum.

I would say this forum would be a very good place to start. Spend a little time reading some of the previous discussions. Pretty much anything relating to boats and cruising has been asked and answered at one time or another.

Re: New to the forum....looking for a mentor or mentors

Doing a general search under old/new posts on any topic will give you a ton of information. Just about everything has been discussed, but you need to pick through a few disagreements of opinion here and there.

If you give more of your location, you'll have a better idea of who is nearby.

There are literally all walks of life and economic representations in the posts. Good luck, and many others also have the same questions - so there is a lot of advice and information available. Many others in the same boat.

This isn't what you asked for but if you like reading, you can try our website. We are in our 3rd year of an RTW and our site tells it like it is - all the joys and all the heartbreaks (there are lots of both).

give it a try - maybe you'll like it - lots of good stuff there.

Our books have gotten 5 star reviews on Amazon. Several readers have written "I never thought I would go on a circumnavigation, but when I read these books, I was right there in the cockpit with Vinni and Carsten"

Greetings and welcome aboard the CF, LDG.
This forum just might be your newfound (virtual) mentor group.
Ask away.
