New to the Forum !

My family and I have never sailed, but we are going sailing this summer on a 45 foot cutter in British Columbia. I've read sailing magazines most of my life, and didn't think I would get beyond reading about sailing. But after a trip to the coast a few years ago, and sitting with and talking to a few sailing families, we decided we'd give sailing a try. If we all enjoy the trip this summer, we'll see about getting a bit more serious about sailing. I look forward to the summer and sailing!

You have got to start somewhere, and this forum is a great place to start.

Family sailing is a great experience. We sailed all over the world with our kids, and they loved it. In fact, they want to get yachts of their own.

Aw - I always used to wish I had a cool dad who would take us on sailing holidays! How old are the kids?

We started our circumnavigation with our kids when they were in the tenth and eleventh grade taking correspondance school courses from the University of Nebraska. My daughter made it as far as New Zealand from Florida, and my son made it all the way around the world over an eleven year period. It was great having them with us. They were good crew and had a great time as well. They are still our best friends now that they are grown up.
