New to the boards

Just purchased my first boat. A 40 foot Van De Stadt Steel Ketch located in Grenada. Headed down in a few weeks to put her in shape. Previous owner had no experience with boats and never even raised the sails, ran the engine, did any maintenance for three years... Figured you guys/gals might come in handy in the next few months and I am looking forward to the project. Planning to live aboard while in Veterinary School and get a couple of trips in over the summers and breaks.

Re: New to the boards

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Let us know if you need some tips on getting the engine going. Lots of experience here and if you do a search you'll find all kinds of hints.
Don't just try to start it. You don't want to run old/dirty fuel through injector pump and injectors and you want to make certain everything is well lubricated.
