New to NOLA sailing community looking to expand my skills and live aboard soon.

Howdy, CF Sailors and those in New Orleans. I just moved to NOLA and brought a C-27 from Grand Lake in NE Oklahoma down to Ponchartrain. I got a new bottom job on Fiddler II and am trying to put it back together from the move, down. Sailing on Ponchartrain is different than the sheltered lake sailing world but it sure is nice not having to tack every 10 mins. I've only been sailing for two years but have jumped in with both feet.

I've a 1981 Catalina and have used it to learn sailing basics and to learn about the bones of a sail boat. I've replaced all rigging, tightened up the hardware and set it up for single sailing. Learning about teak wood and electrics is next. My goal is to buy a 50' in the next year or two to live aboard and then retire onto and then head out. The sailing season here is great! I got a sunburn on thanksgiving here!

Here's to a safe 2016 to us all. Blessings.

M

Welcome to the forum and New Orleans. It's a pretty easy lace to sail, but watch out for any strong breeze from the North. The shallow lake and long fetch means we get a brutal steep chop.
