new to forum

Just logged in ex racer-sail and power cruise -Seattle/northwest. Old salt from down-east with many years of boating still learning new things. Just downsized turning 70 this summer and wanted to get ahead of the ageing curve my J/44 would eventually get to be a handful to single hand as a daysailer and my wife also no spring chicken was finding it harder to be separated all summer from her brood. So we got a 38ft down-east power boat for shorter trips up north and a J/100 for my single hand day sailing.I will miss the big J it is fast, stable and spacious. The new J is no slouch and is a challenge to sail especially when the wind pipes up read >12kts.I will be looking in on some of the posts and may throw my two cents in from time to time. Ed.

Aloha Ed,
Welcome aboard. Good to have you here. Down East makes a sailboat too, right?
Kind regards,
JohnL

There was a sailboat brand with that name but I was using the term loosely to describe one of the many lobster boat type none working sorts of motor boats-fear not I have plenty of old rags in my closet- have owned and well used over 20 boats from yare gaffer to j/44- from ob speedster to 40ft single motor trawler.Due to the difficulty of owning accessible boat friendly waterfront in Seattle I am down to three boats+two dinks.Recently gave my half of a woody Sparkman and Stevens 6 meter to my son-in-law.
