New to board

Hi,

My name is Wayne and my yacht name was Kanani (Hawaii registered) a Passport 45 ketch.

I cruised from '84 to '98. Did 2 circumnavigations and sailed for 80,000 miles on my yacht and about 40,000 on deliveries.

I'm land locked now but thought I might be able to help others with the amount of experience that I've had.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

It doesn't look like a real busy board.

I spent a lot of time cruising the SaPac Islands from Hawaii, Palmyra, Samoa, Tonga, Fiji and especialy New Zealand. I circumnavigated both islands of NZ in '87 and again in '95. Actually, I wish that I had never left the SoPac.

If anyone is interested in making that trip, I have a lot of hand drawn charts of anchorages in Fiordland. That's the toughest part of cruising that area.

Kanani - Welcome to the Cruiser's Forum. We always appreciate experience here! Be prepared to have your brain picked. In a nice way, of course.

Two things though - first, may I suggest that you take a few moments to enter in a bit of info in your profile (click on the word PROFILE at the top right of the thread in the blue banner menu area).

Second, I would beg to differ about "It doesn't look like a real busy board.". We typically have over 100 posts a day. You may want to investigate the number of forums we have on this board. If you click on DISCUSSION at the top of this forum (also in the Blue Banner Menu), you'll see that there are a LARGE number of forums and threads that are very active.

Again, Welcome and enjoy!

Well guys......I was wrong.....this is a very busy board, once I found my way around.

Thanks for all the good chats & memories.

If you wonder how in the heck I had time to make 200+ posts in one month..I have been down with Acute Bronchitis and stuck in bed (to avoid pnuemonia....it sucks being a landlubber). I'm getting better now and had better get my butt back making some $ or I will never go cruising again......

Aloha....for now......it's been fun.

Kanani - I have enjoyed the experience displayed in your posts. I hope you have time to drop by now and then. I recognize this place can be addicting and distracting fom other goals.

Hope you are feeling better and good luck on the next cruising kitty.

Yes, welcome aboard, Kanani. Your wealth of experience is invaluable to everyone who reads this board.

I look forward to reading your next 200+ posts between now and New Year's Eve!

(Maybe I should think about posting a Meets and Greets intro one of these days . . . Nah!)

Hey guys, Wayne posted this over a month ago. He said it was not a very busy forum. By welcoming him a month later you are making it look like the forum is quiet.

Hell, Wayne is now a regular. He has more posts than people who have been here for years.
