New Sailor in Point Roberts, WA

Summer time is really good to learn sailing and enjoy the water.
In the light speed age, sailing seems slow and out of date. especially when wind stop.

Welcome Aboard Cruisers Forum

Light wind sailing is what we used to call ghosting in the Fl. Keys years ago. Use to be fun to sneak up on friends that were anchored.

Very seldom does the wind actually stop. Like Charlie said some of the best times are light winds.

Welcome aboard. Take advantage of the light breezes at Point Roberts to learn to relax while you sail. We spent 6 weeks sailing the San Juan Islands each summer for the last 3 years and it won't be long before there's plenty of breeze to deal with reefing because of too much breeze.

Glad to ahve you on the forum. Some of our best days are the days with light wind, when we just relax while steering the helm with our feet.

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Its good to have you here. I spent several hours just drifting south in 1-2 knots of wind the other day on the leeward side of the Big Island. It was a bit boring but very very peaceful.
kind regards,
