pirate New Owner of a Catalina 30

We're from New Orleans, LA and my husband and I recently purchased a 1987 Catalina 30 and just became a member of this forum. However, I've been visiting this forum quite a bit since our purchase in November, 2009 and have learned quite a lot. We'll be selling everything and becoming full-time cruisers in the Caribbean in about 1.5 years. We're really excited and have a lot to learn. I know this site will be very informative to us. We're posting our transition on our web site Mid-Life Cruising!!!. We'd love some followers and advice.

Thanks! It's good to hear that the Catalina has a good reputation! Lots of room for the size and we got it at a really good price!

Thanks for the welcome! My husband and I are really excited about our future in full-time cruising. I'm sure we'll be learning a lot from all of you helpful, kind "sailors".

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Congratulations on your new boat. I've recommended Catalinas to folks many time. I started with a fin keel Catalina 22 in the early 80s and never regretted buying a boat with their quality of build.
Hope you have some fine cruising.
Kind regards,

We've taken "Nirvana" out sailing a few times already and really enjoying her. Now the hard part begins - we just "hauled her out" and are now sanding the bottom for repainting.
