I’d like to introduce my self as a new member
to the Cruisers Forum. I am an ‘old’ fart facing retirement
and want to garner as much information before I buy a sailing yacht in the next year or two. I will most probably retire to Victoria, BC and sail the Juan de Fuca Strait, Straits of Georgia
, north to the Queen Charlotte Islands and maybe southward along the west coast
of the USA.
I had the opportunity to cruise
on a 41' Morgan
35 years ago after University and am still a good dinghy
sailor. Over the years I’ve always had a longing to cruise
but a career, family
and a fantastic wife have been first on the list.
I will be updating (re taking) my sailing knowledge with a review of Seamanship Sail, Navigation
and Piloting over the next couple of years with the Canadian Power Sqn. This will ensure a safe re-introduction to sailing. I know that 'to know the sea' only comes with experience and miles and miles of wake. That will come with time.
I look forward to reading and, perhaps, posting
thoughts on this forum.
