Thumbs up New Member Just Saying Hello

Hi Everyone,

I'm John and as well as being new to this forum I'm also a new sailor. My wife and I have purchased a Hullmaster 27 at the beginning of this year. Before we made this purchase I read ALOT. A huge amount of the advice I was able to obtain came from the members on this board.

I live in Barrie, Ontario, Canada which is about a half hour from the North Channel. Currently building our skills in Lake Simcoe but will likely do some sailing there in the future.

Thanks to all who have posted such great advice.

Fair Winds,
John

Welcome

May I suggest, seeing as you are a new sailor , get a book on sail trim, saves a lot of pain later

Re: New Member Just Saying Hello

Thanks for the welcomes. I've been waiting a long time to join the club.

Stuart,

Good advice. I have bought several books on sailing and downloaded numerous articles ion sail trim and understand it's importance.

While I claim no real proficiency at this time I understand the principals. This year I didn't have proper tells on my sails (They're fairly old) and the wind vane on my mast was broken. I put a new wind vane on when I pulled the mast down this fall. I also am bringing my sails in for new tells.

I expect this will help the learning curve next year.

Cheers,

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Telltales will help a lot. Can also install them on the shrouds. Couple of pieces of yarn about 8 feet up the port and starboard upper shroud helps read the wind a great deal.
kind regards,

Re: New Member Just Saying Hello

Hi John,

I'm just joining this forum myself and looking at purchasing a Hullmaster 27. I'm trying to find out if the hull is solid fibreglass or is there a core. I have searched Google but cannot find anything conclusive. I thought you might know? Thanks.
