I started on the sailing journey about a year ago (live in Scottsdale) and found an American Sailing Association school
at Lake Pleasant for 101 (Sailing Arizona).
I then took a class for 103 & 104 in San Diego
from Lee Pearce at Learn to Sail San Diego
and had a good experience.
If I were to do it all again, I would probably take 101 through 104 in San Diego.
I now charter
from Harbor Sailboats in San Diego because they have competitive prices, a good selection of sailboats, and helpful people. San Diego Harbor and along the coast is a great place to sail with relatively predictable sailing conditions.
Picked up some good books
about sailing basics (probably can find a few at a library) and the ASA
101 course provides a sailing fundamentals book that is basic but reads well.
