New Member Hoping to Go Sailing One Day!

Hello to everyone. We have just purchased a Beneteau Oceanis 370 1991 model in order to practice ready for us to go cruising in 5 or so years time. In the meantime, we intend to enjoy our boat sailing up and down the West Australian coast, learning and having fun in preparation for the long cruise. (that's if we ever get the boat off the hard and back into the water.) I have put a post in the Maintenance section about THAT little problem!
Love to read all the posts and absorb all the information in this forum, and hopefully we can provide some for others to learn from one day!

Welcome to the group Hillary. I'm sure you will find great sailing opportunities in your new boat soon. We have a lot of Australian and New Zealand sailors on board here. I'll be cruising with a NZ girl some this next season in the BVI, if things work out on schedules for both of us. Lots of Au and NZ flagged boats pass throug routinely and except for having to teach them how to drink beer they seem like a good group!

Welcome to the forum
Sounds like you two are embarking on a great adventure, I hope your repairs go well.
Cheers,
Erika

PS
yesterday I decided to sail to Australia by 2011/12, so keep a weather eye out for Ocean Girl - hopefully I'll run into you (not literally )

Well, thank you for the welcome!

Reality - sorry you have to take the time out to teach Aus and NZers to drink beer!! Must be painful for you!! Isn't it best when drunk so cold you can't taste it!! Your trip this season sounds great - hope you make it!

Erika, thanks for the encouragement! Our repairs are now progressing, thankfully....will look forward to seeing you in 2011/12! See you then!

Hillary welcome. Many can only imagine sailing the adventure that will soon become routine for you. Keep us posted as your practice and reach your goals
