New Member from the Middle of England

Hello everyone,

I picked this site up while Googling 'Trirme 38', the boat design my brother & myself built two of in Halesowen from 1979-1988. New member 'JohnRob' had a query on a Trireme 38, so I joined up to answer his questions.

I am probably at the other end of my sailing career to most folk on here as I have now retired from sailing & am now into building Kit Cars & have built a replica of a Ferrari P4.

After launching our Trireme we rented out our home & did a circumnavigation from 1991-2004, we then sold the boat & moved back home. The whole experience was truly unforgettable.

I wish this site had been around when we built our boats as there is so much information & help here, it would have been invaluable.

All the best,

Brian.

Trireme being the Roman/Greek? triple banked rowing boat with a sail for extra speed?
There's a recent thread on lapped wooden boats, the Norse type, having greater speed than a smooth design should have. Did you pick up on that? I'd be interested in reading up on your trip if you could add source of book or you own memories here.

G'day, mate from N.Z. Congratulations on your circumnavigation. Lots of Lotus kits down here. Cheers

Hi & thanks for the replies.

Hope to visit Hawaii the easy way, by cruise ship!! around Christmas, now visiting the places we didn't go to with our own boat.

We spent about 7 months tied up to the piles in Whangari Town, loved our time there. We bought an old Morris Marina & went all around North Island in it.

All the best,

Brian.
