New member from Ontario Canada

Hello everyone

I have been lurking around the site for a while, and thought it was time to join. Not an owner yet, but I intend to be.

Still in the process of reading and learning.

Re: New member from Ontario Canada

Welcome aboard! I used to crew aboard a 33' Abbott on the Detroit River in Lasalle, just between Windsor and Amhersburg. My first boat, a 16' McVay Falcon, was built in Mahone Bay, NS. I'm a big fan of Canadian sailing!

Honestly, the best place to learn is to visit a marina and volunteer yourself as crew. Many skippers prefer inexperienced crew so you can learn things "their way". And every skill you learn is valuable.

Best wishes,

Mark

Welcome from Toronto. In the same boat (argh!) as you. We are in the early stages of buying our first catamaran.

Where do you see yourself sailing/motoring? We'll probably be in Simcoe for the first year or two.

Cheers

Greetings from Lake Ontario. Check out the Humber sailing centre. Great spot for lessons, and if you join their club, you can use their keelboats.

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Good advice about taking sailing lessons at a club. Mark was right about skippers wanting to teach you sailing "their way" but keep in mind that it may not be the safest way or the best way.
Good luck in whichever way you chose to get out on the water.
kind regards,
