New Member from Dubai

Hi All,

I stumbled across this site yesterday. Wow, lot's of reading to do that's for sure.

I know, I know, the search button is my friend.

We are living in Dubai now and plan to buy a crusing cat in a few years, probably 5 unfortunately, before we stop work and cruise.

We currently plan is to spend 18 months to 2 years on the east coast of Australia with at least half the year in Whitsundays. However, the more I find out about the Mediteranean, VI's, etc the more I am not sure of what we will do.

Anyway, this is just to say hello.

Cheers

Michael

Welcome aboard!

Actually our own "search" button isn't nearly as good as the Custom Google Search (CruisersForum) at:

Also in Dubai

Welcome to the forum! I am an American living in Dubai, but may be going back stateside in a few months.

I have searched around a bit for sailing opportunities here but have come up empty with the exception of hobie cats and extremely expensive bare-boat charters. If you're aware of any good (read inexpensive) ways to get on the water I'd love to know.

Welcome aboard. I am a bit north of you (Doha) for 10 months of the year for one more year. My boat is moored at a marina on Vancouver Island. As for local sailing oppertunities. It's getting too hot for me now but there are 26ft. Colgates to rent that are fun during the cooler times of the year. We pay 450 Qrs. a day (about $125 USD) so with 4 or 5 it's not too bad to spend a day out sailing. No engines mind you. Sail on and off the mooring buoys. But they take you out to the boat and pick you up when your done. They will even come out to get you if the wind completely dies down. LOL
