Greetings and welcome aboard the CF, Gigaflopper.

It appears you may already be infected - and there’s no known cure.

Come on down to Myrtle Beach and join me on a short cruise to Savannah about March 1st. You'll be able to find out if you like it and all it will cost is your travel to and from. + drinks and additional food of course.

Yes, I want to be in Savannah for St. Paddy's day, big party. Then I think I'll go back up to Long Island, to see some family. Should start getting warmer by the time I get there. Spend a few weeks in Hampton on the way. Maybe go outside and catch the expressway to get there.

You stupid idiot! Aren't you afraid of drowning, stroms, pirates? Sailboats are out in the cold wind, water spray, rock and roll all over the place. You can only carry so much water, how are you going tto ale a showere every day? Speaking of showers; how am I going to be able to run my bow dryer!

That's all I have until we know more about you.

O-ohhh, you'll be sorrrry!! Few can ever get the saltwater out of their veins once they try it! It's been 4 yrs for me living full-time (never sailed before-though my hubby sailed 30yrs) and now they will have to bury me in my sailboat! Never want to live anywhere else. Cruising is another world- even the dock is better than land-everyone seems nicer, more time to socialize or even just say hi. How many land folk would invite you to go for a trip like Don? Hope you love it like the rest if CF'ers!

Re: New member, aspiring sailboat owner!

Dropping into this seething cauldron. You do not see any remorse about their own fatefull decisions. Like those who have witnessed a bad movie, they encourage others to go see it. Perverse, but understandable.

Thick skin and a sense of humor (?) required.

You have to go out and get a 20' boat and claw off a lee shore.
You have to ask about anchors and anchoring.
You have to ask about sail trim.

If you have a keel boat you have to talk about catamarans flipping over.
If you have a catamaran you have to talk about how fast the bleeping thing goes.

But this is the most active REAL sailing site around and I must now submit for the flurry of said activity.

MY CATAMARAN IS THE FASTEST BOAT!

That is, it is made fast to the dock. I've got to make a few more cabinet doors and run some wires...

Such is life.

Re: New member, aspiring sailboat owner!

Buy a Cal20 and sail it to Hawai'i. That crazy enough?

With a username like Gigaflopper, you sound like a computer techie.

I think I'm trouble. But I'll be in fresh water to start! I've been addicted to sail blogs and stories of ocean crossings and long term cruising for a while now.
