Hello all,
I am so glad to have found this forum! I have learned so much in the short time I have been here…I know I have only but touched the surface! I am a total greenhorn when it comes to boats, but am looking forward to learning. My goal is to eventually live aboard…but want to do so knowing full well what I am in for
I thank those who have already given me good ideas for steps to take and have instilled positivity …
I look forward to getting to know you all…and if you ever find yourself in Baltimore send me a shout!!
Mary

Mary,
Welcome to the nut house we call CF. You being in Maryland, have a lot of boats in the surrounding area. Do you have any idea of what you want in a boat, i.e. day sailor, dinghy sailing, coastal cruiser, off shore capable, mono, multi, well you get the idea, a lot of flavors in this past time.

Re: New Member
Bob,
Hello there!
Thank you for your reply. Oh yeah…we have LOTS of boats in the area.
As far as what kind of boat...well, I have no clue! That is what I am hoping to realistically figure out. First things first though…because I have not sailed since I was a teen (so its been a few years ) I am joining a local club to take some classes so I can refresh and learn as well as get involved locally... But my thoughts are really trying to figure out what I could handle... because I will be on my own.
There are those here (I mean in Baltimore) that are telling me I should forget sailing and go with a motor boat…especially If I want to live aboard…
I am just taking it all in…suggestions welcome
Mary

Re: New Member
Mary,
By involving yourself in a sailing class to refresh your skill set is an excellent idea. I am also a solo sailor and belong to a FaceBook group of other solo sailors which you might enjoy. Out of the 100 active members in that group, for some reason us guys are outnumbered. Go figure?
