Ahoy All:

I am Benny aka Randy Benoit and own an Irwin 37CC ketch in the process of many upgrades having just bought her last year. I am 51 and have sailed all my life - restored several boats - wooden, steel and glass. Right now I'm noodling a hard dodger/hard bimini arrangement so any ideas are welcome. Sail out of Toronto Island ONT. CAN with my wife and three sons.

Looking forward to discussions on this site and if there are any members living close by St Catharines ON - drop me a line.

David Old Jersey - My wife drinks margaritas - hence the boat name - I wanted something a little saltier but the 'Admiral' won out so I tried to nauticalize the name a bit.

Your Sea dog 30 - was it a Dutch designer named Van De Stadt because I owned the Canadian built version of this boat in steel from 1987 to 1995.

Regards, Randy

Bloke by the name of Reg Freeman, designed in the early 60's.

Welcome to the Cruisers Forum and retirement, I'm sure you'll enjoy both!

---------
Rocky: Are you getting sea sick, Bullwinkle?
Bullwinkle: No, I always turn green this time of year.
Rocky: Well if you think this is bad?
Bullwinkle: Yeah.
Rocky: Just wait till we cast off.

This is the hard dodger I built for my old boat. It was great. Just as good as a regular one but you could get on top of it too. Built out of laminated doorskins and glass. It was built using the stainless tubing as a mold.

Looks like a good job - I'm not sure what a doorskin is but am assuming it's your core material - looks professional - did you do it yourself? I'm doing a full top/enclosure for my centre cockpit and will post pics when complete - might be next year tho - thanks for the input

Regards

Door Skins are 1/8" thickpanels, often Luan or Birch, used to "skin" doors. they also make great "templating" materials (hot glued), for mocking up an assembly.
