Hi, I've just joined, and have enjoyed browsing the posts.

I lived aboard various boats, am a UK Yachtmaster and have a USCG 50 ton license, but have lived in Colorado for many years.

Now I'm retired and thinking of moving to Florida and having, preferably sharing (not living aboard), a sailboat again to cruise, maybe to the Bahamas, maybe on the Gulf Coast. I'm considering Palm Beach and Sarasota, but isn't the inshore water too shallow near Sarasota? Would you have to motor for an hour to get into sailing areas?

Another problem is finding crew, as none of my friends likes to sail. (That's what happens when you live in a ski resort.)

So, I have two questions. Where in Florida is the best sailing, both daysailing and departing for short cruises? How do you meet fellow sailors to share a boat or to charter together?

Thanks for your advice and comments. jdg

Hi jdg and welcome to the forum. I can't help you with respect to Fla, but there are many members here from that area who can (although you may want to start a thread with your questions in the destinations section for a better response).

Cheers!

Brad

Welcome to the forum jdg.
I lived in Ocala for several years...definitely not the place for sailing!
