Hi! My wife and I are new to the forum. We have been sailing for about ten years. We currently own a catamaran in the Moorings program and the boat is located in Belize. We will be taking the boat out of the program this spring and will be sailing the US and Carribean for the next two years.

Greetings and welcome board the CF Malcom & Suzanne.
Sounds like you've got a GREAT plan, to me!

Welcome.

Many would be interested in hearing how the "hand over" works out.

Hi Malcom and Suzanne,

Our boat (Leopard 38/Moorings 3800) was with Moorings in Belize for 5 and then Footloose for 2 (BVI). We completed our hand-over in April of this year in Tortola.

A couple of quick phase-out thoughts...

1) Tim Schaaf said it best on the Yahoo Leopard group "One EARNS a good phase-out, and unfortunately, the necessary currency is measured in time and personal involvement ."

2) The phase-out keyword is "broken". Broken is unacceptable.

After all was said and done, we are VERY happy with our boat.

I hope all goes well for you. Say "Hi" to Rene from "Alexian"
