Hello to everyone at this forum.
I've been reading post at this forum for several days now and....WOW, what a wealth of knowlege. A little about myself: I know nothing about sailing whatsoever. The most sailing experience I have to date is having been on a 40' sailboat for three days on the Chesapeake bay some 20 years ago with friends. My intentions are to learn to sail on the Chesapeake (it's only a 1 hour drive from home), expand to some offshore sailing and to gain enough experience AND confidence within the next 4-5 years to allow myself to buy a boat and cruise from Maine to Florida and beyond to the Bahamas. I will apologize in advance for asking too many questions that may appear as common knowlege to anyone who has lived beyond childhood.....but I'm a pure novice and by nature a curious person. Scott |

Welcome Scott. Your plans are very realistic, and I wish you well. Intelligent people ask lots of questions, so do not be shy. The obvious is subjective, and only obvious to someone who knows what he is looking at, so ask away.

Welcome to the forums.
There are no stupid questions, after all if you are asking a question its cause you need the answer, and if somebody else can answer it, then great, perhaps we will all learn a bit more.
