New Kid on the Block

Hello,

My name is Greg and I sail on the coast of Ga. on a friends Gib Sea 33 and on lake Sinclair in middle Ga. on a C22

I am getting close to retiring and I have been looking for a boat to keep on the coast.

I am looking at a 1988-1990 Catalina 30 or a Pearson 323. It is my hope to sail the Bahamas and possibly further. Given these two selections, which one would be the best.

Thanks
Greg

Cant really answer your question as I dont know either boat (and for me they dont have enough hulls!) however, welcome to the forum!

Greg,
Assuming either boat you are considering is in good condition they would be adequate for your initial cruising plans. Of course there are many other boats in that class that might meet your needs. Whatever boat you choose doesn't have be the right one for your future plans. Wait until those plans develop then there is always the opprotunity find another boat. There is not one boat for all plans.

Aloha GOP,
Have you seen the Douglas 32 for sale in Charleston. That would be my ideal. If it were a choice of Pearson vs Catalina I'd go for the Pearson. Welcome aboard!! I think you are looking for the right size boat.
Kind Regards, JohnL
