New Kid in town.....

Greetings my friends....I just signed up for the forum, so I reckon that makes me the new kid in town. Ha!
I finally made it to 65 years old and after careers as a marine mechanic, woodworker/cabinet maker and marine canvas/upholstery tech, it's time to follow my dream. Now or never.....the tide waits for no man, as they say.
Most of my boating experience has been with power boats, though when I worked in Marina Del Rey back in the early 80's, I did repair a lot of sailboat engines. Atomic 4's mostly...yikes! Remember those?
Always been in love with sailboats and plan to spend what probably will be the rest of my life on or at least near them. So with that in mind, I will humbly ask for advise on what boat to purchase as my first.
My list of qualifications:
Initial boat cost $30,000.
Type- Fiberglass monohull
Rig-Sloop
Type of cruising- Coastal
Where- Sea of Cortez
Situation- Live aboard
Glad to be here and thanks for reading

Howdie, and welcome to CF!

Unfortunately for you this one is in Maine. But moving her to CA would make one great trip. Or you might just "get stuck" in the Caribbean.

Re: New Kid in town.....

Wow, she's a beauty. Seems like a lot of boat for the money. I'm curious about one thing. Having been in the boat business all those years, customers would invariably ask me what their boat was worth. I would reply that it's worth what you will take for it. I've seen $10,000 boats sell for $2500 and pure junk hardly worth parting out sell for big bucks. Strange. So my question: Are boats of this caliber and price more available on the East Coast. It maybe worth the cost to begin my search there and hey, I might just get stuck in the Caribbean!
