San Diego is a great place to sail. If you haven't had a basic sailing class I'd recommend it. If you have military connections there are sailing classes with MWR.

Welcome Watch out for the bridge and be careful to the south of it, if ignoring charts do so on a rising tide!

Harbor Island Yacht Club has a nice lenient rental policy (they don't come searching for you when it gets dark).

I learned the ropes at san Diego sports center in mission bay... Rent 25' $22.00/Hr... After several sails to thebarefoot bar and grill for fresh mint mojitos and shots of tequila to go you'll probably buy your own like we did. Hope this helps!
