New From the PNW

Hullo. My wife and I own and operate a classic (1932) former University of Washington research vessel as an Expedition Charter in SE Alaska. Catalyst has its original 1932 Washington Diesel, displaces 102 Gross Tons and can accomodate 12 guests and sails with 4 crew.

I am here to gather information and advice about the next stage of our life's adventure, which I hope is to spend a few years cruising on a modest multihull sailboat.

I have almost 30,000 miles of experience in Alaska and the Inside Passage, am a 200-ton Master (especially after the Holidays) and am very willing to expose my ignorance by answering and asking questions.

Looks like a great forum, I'm looking forward to exploring it!

Hi PacificCatalyst,

We've probably run across Catalyst in our Inside Passage travels - similar miles, much smaller boat. Could you post some Catalyst pictures?

Re: New From the PNW

Hi new Moon, Thank you for the welcome! I need to figure out how to post pics on this forum, I tried to put some pics in an album, but I'm not sure where they went?

Thank you everyone, I'm looking forward to learning from other experienced mariners!

Hi Bob and Connie, I'm always happy to talk about old boats and engines! I look forward to it.

Good sailing until then.

Click on the Photos button at the very top LH of the page. Or goto your profile page. But so far, it doesn't show any pictures for you.

& Welcome aboard from another local.

Aloha John,
Thank you for the welcome. I've been told that I'm full of something......I don't recall "Knowledge" being specifically mentioned however ;-)
Warm regards, and good sailing, Bill

Welcome aboard Were one of a few catamarans in the PNW and were on the Columbia River 600 miles by water from the Salish Sea. What type of cat are you looking for ? Our cat is an 02 Gemini 105Mc with the screecher track and we love it.
