New, from Maine

Hi--I just joined although I've read and lurked for years. My partner and I lived aboard a four-figure Ranger 33 for two years, sailing down the eastern seaboard and to the southern end of the Bahamas, Crooked Island, before our furler and diesel both broke simultaneously and we wore out on not having standing headroom and sailing in general. Now we're five years out, and thinking about another sailboat, so I decided to start posting. I like the idea of a beachable catamaran, preferably a Wharram, but he likes double-ended steel and Tahiti ketches--and the idea of sailing north appeals to me, too.

My dream boat would be located in Thailand, where I grew up. But those are hard to find via the ol' internet. Specifically I'm looking for cruisers or liveaboards in southeast Asia who might have a beater or a low-budget boat they know about or a marina source where someone might now of some laid-up sailboats... I know it's a long shot. I'll be posting in those forums, too--eventually.

I'd also love to connect to female Maine captains who'd like female crew for short cruises. Although I became a capable sailor, my goal this time is to learn to singlehand, full-stop. I don't want to buy another boat unless I can sail her all by my lonesome.

All the fair winds your sails can hold,
Melissa
