NEW from ENGLEWOOD, FL

I moved to Florida two year ago. Since this time I have been gifted a 19 foot McGregor Powersailor. While I know nothing about sailing it has always been a dream. Right now my electrical connections are being made as well as connecting cables to engine. This will follow up with cleaning and painting. THEN I want to live aboard. Would love to go sailing with others in the meantime to learn and assist and would welcome others to sail with me when Princess Sophia is ready to sail.

Re: NEW from ENGLEWOOD, FL

It is my understanding that the Macgregor Powersailor 19 is a hybrid between a motorboat and a sailboat and that while it can, in theory, be used like a regular power boat or a regular sail boat, the reality is that it doesn't do either of these things very well - particularly sailing performance is minimal. Having said that, if it gets you out on the water, it is a good thing.

Re: NEW from ENGLEWOOD, FL

Indeed, we all tend to love the boats that we have. And seriously, I wasn't trying to deliberately pi$$ on the OP's barbecue. For those of us who love being on the water (me included), boats are great and getting out and hoisting sail is always a good time. Nevertheless, for a self-confessed noob, learning to sail on that particular boat could be frustrating. But as I said before, if it gets him (or her) out on the water, it is a good thing.

Re: NEW from ENGLEWOOD, FL

Weyalan,
Please keep your negative comments to yourself. First of all I posted a welcome/new to this site post. In my post it mentioned a dream...mine not yours. And I did not ask for any opinions about my boat therefor warranting no negative comments. If you do not like my boat I assume you do not have one like it. Good for you for living your dream.

If you cannot say anything nice then don't speak.

Re: NEW from ENGLEWOOD, FL

Weyalan,

I have experience a great deal of illness including several cancers. I moved to Florida because I felt better and have worked non stop to become functional (never with western medicine) This is my dream. I don't care if I only stay in the bay for awhile. Life is short and I take nothing for granted. It is my experience...not yours. Be respectful. Im not looking for even one comment of disrespect. Simply won't be tolerated. And if I do end up asking for suggestions or opinions it will never be yours. Please do not post anything further in response to my post. Thank you for respecting my request.
