New Boat-Owner in Florida

Hello everybody,
I have been a "lurker" on the forum for some time while I looked for my first boat. Yesterday I finalized the purchase of a 1989 Newport 28 Mark II. I want to thank the contributors to the various forums I have visited. The information here is so valuable to a newbie like me. Lurker no longer.

Hi Paul and welcome to the forum! The Newport 28 is a great boat - a C&C design that is not only attractive with decent accomodation, but has the typical C&C performance attributes. The Mark II had, if I recall correctly, a redesigned (and deeper) keel and rudder and was not only well balanced, but quite decent to windward. I am sure she will serve you well for both nearshore cruising and club racing, should you be interested.

Anyway, great choice for a first boat!

Cheers!

Hi Paul, welcome aboard. We are orginally from CT, but now have our sailboat in FL. Where in FL do you keep your boat.
