New boat owner

Greetings all,

My dream of boat ownership is almost realized. Over a year ago I ordered the new Fountaine Pajot Mahe 36 catamaran, and it's scheduled to arrive in the next couple of weeks. We currently live in Lake Worth FL, but plan to move to NC (New Bern / Wilmington) as soon as our house is sold. (Just can't afford to live in S FL and own a boat and a house).

I see there are a few members who live in Eastern NC (at least one in New Bern). I'd love to hear any thoughts / comments about the area.

Thanks,
Dave

Have a group of 8 neighbors that just went down to New Bern for a few days and they all had a great time. Not that many folks around this time of year, but all the marinas they saw were pretty full. Since we are all boaters I think you could take it as an endorsement. There has been tremendous growth down there.

I will be glad to tell you tons of opinions about New Bern and will be happy to help you with any logistics. Private mail me your contact information, and I will call you.

We have some information about the area on our boat web site 1994 Prout Manta 38 Owners Georg

New Bern

We are fairly new boat owners as well. We came to New Bern in June. Our boat is in Northwest Creek Marina and my wife's uncle lives/works in the Sky Sail Yacht Club (formerly known as Sheraton) marina. Both of these marinas, and from what I hear most others in the area have waiting lists in the summer. You might want to get on a list before April when many others from FL start coming up here.

I didn't hear from you so assume your getting all the info you need. I remain availbable to help if you need.

It's a great area and maybe we can meet face to face if you move up this way.

Aloha,
Welcome aboard!! I missed your post and therefore this is a bit untimely. My visit to New Bern last August pretty much convinced my that I'm missing out on a lot of nice sailing communities by being stuck way out here in Hawaii. Seriously, New Bern and Oriental seem like a great places for sailors.
Good luck on your new boat delivery.

Sorry for all the misspelling and bad grammar. Haven't had my third cup of coffee yet.
