New and fresh

Hey all yall salty dogs and dogetts,
Not sure how fare the seas are here but am hopeful to maybe make some new friends and to learn a f things here. Im currently building a 1968,39 foot comet ketch (philip rhodes design) that when I found her she had been gutted and only the volvo diesel sitting inside. But with her spoon bow and her long over hangs with nice deadrise and full keel I new she would be worth the labor of love invested. Living in chicago limits work time with the long winters, but all rigging is swaged and this spring to pop the sticks in and into the splash!! Ive drafted and sown the sails, cutin a cute cabin top, epoxy down a custom deck and install cleats, stations, winches ect. Laid out and rough in the interior but still needs tobe trimmed out, but will finish that in the water,,, tired of running the ladder you no what I mean!! Anyway the end of the beginning is near (anybody want to go sailing)!!

Re: New and fresh

We rebuilt two yachts from completely gutted (well, HWMO did, I kinda just did the directing), and it is SOOOO worth while, getting to know your boat litereally from inside to out.

Good luck with your project, and welcome aboard!

Re: New and fresh

Its good to know others are doing, or have done, what I'm doing. Are we all crazy? Yesterday while standing on my head in the bilge finishing a weld in one of those OMG locations I had to ask myself WHY? Then it came to me. Its cheaper and done right if I do it.

welcome aboard

Re: New and fresh

Hey John,, and thanks. Yea I no how you feel but hope you are making progress!
Sometimes it does take a better man,, boatman,,, lol, and hey matt it looks like you have a nice project going there bro! Roberts are a strong design. Money will buy your materials, time to work on the boat will be what you hope for, but determination will be what you need to get it done!! So hey, be encouraged guys and remember it WILL be worth it
