Welcome aboard Kyleigh!

Color schemes for the hull, interior or both? What are the colors now? Do you have some pics you could post?

Welcome to the forum!

Pictures would be sensible. Regardless, I'm voting for yellow. It's bright, it's cool in the sun, and completely immoral.

Re: Need help with color scheme!!

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Good to have you posting here. I've seen all colors everywhere on a boat.
I would have to say that my recommendation would be "anything but orange or pea green."
Slate gray is good. You don't want any dark colors where you would be barefoot or bare skin. Anything dark will be hot in the sun. Even just a bit of color will absorb heat so very light colors are best for deck, cabin top or seats that are in the sun.
kind regards,

Kyleigh21,

You do know that men only see primary colors right?
Once you say "Violet stone" or "Lemon grass", us guys start running and do not look back.

A good place to start is with a color gallery

May I highly suggest that you two spend time on board BEFORE you modify. You'll be surprised by all the surprises and things you never thought of..

Oh, 1978. The good news is that it could have been Harvest Gold or Avocado Green.

Re: Need help with color scheme!!

For exterior I would suggest white with yellow trim.

If you want to be noticed (ie. not run down by a freighter or found by an SAR helo) the 3 best colors are orange, red & yellow.

Yellow is probably the coolest in the sun. My intention with whatever our boat to be is to run a wide strip of yellow reflective tape around the boat just below the toerail. This maximizes the amount of yellow on the boat in daytime, provides a nice big reflective target at night and may actually be cooler or as cool as white gelcoat because some of the solar radiation is reflected rather than absorbed.

Re: Need help with color scheme!!

I would say start browsing the web using google images for boats of your type. You might come across some pictures you like.

It was easy for my sailboat. I was at the Annapolis boat show,, walked over to the Tartans and asked what colors they used. I've been very happy.
