Meet and Greet

Hi All

Have been lurking for a few months and impressed at accumulated knowledge/wisdom shared in this forum.

On boats since before I can remember, as a young man I made mistake of reading Moitessiers' Logical route whilst doing a Caribbean loop from Europe and thus went through Panama etc etc

30 years later am retiring onto a 40 year old steel sloop.

I mainly single hand but enjoy day sailing with friends and acquaintances

Re: Meet and Greet

Welcome to the forum...a number of people have been influenced by Moitessier's writings.

Howdy and Welcome Aboard the Forum Rodrinn!

We have some things in common (a liking for Moitessier and metal boats).

When you get a chance, post some photos of your steel sloop. I always enjoy seeing the different forms steel (or metal) boat builders make/take and enjoy their diversity. You are a few years ahead of me (I am not yet retired) but similar interests here.

FYI: There is a Steel Boat Group here somewhere on the forum. You can find it among the many special interest groups here:

Fair winds to you!

Re: Meet and Greet

Hello All,
New to this forum but an old hat when it comes to boats. I got my first boat at 13 and have never been boatless since. I have worked in the boating industry just about all my working career. I started out bottom painting and became a certified mechanic and then certified in just about all yacht systems from electrical, electronics, A/C and refrigeration.
On the side I captained a motor yacht for one family for 25 years, taking them from Maine to Key West. Now at just over 60 I work as a yacht broker and delivery captain.
I've been rekindling a childhood idea of sailing to the South Pacific.

Welcome aboard both! And Clamdigger… pour some kerosene on that kindling!
