Thanks for the offer, Jim! I actually looked for you yesterday when I was in Anacortes...

I was actually about to post an update to this thread... I now have a boat in contract, with test sail and survey scheduled in a couple of weeks. She's an Amazon 44 steel cutter with raised-salon pilothouse... a bit shorter than what I imagined I needed, but upon further reflection I felt that something a bit easier to handle would not be such a bad idea. Since I couldn't find a 55-footer topologically repackaged into a 33-foot hull, I decided to compromise.

The engineering and construction are very solid; this has considerable geek appeal (as did my Corsair 36) but also a workboat-level of robustness. Lineage is Grahame Shannon and Dieter Pollak, and I think 7 of them were made.

I'll be updating the Nomadness blog with photos and tech info soon, and will post here when I do.

The plan now is to spend 6 months in a marina, then go on the hook in April and start cruising locally, gradually making the transition to full time. Barring major change of some sort, about this time next year I'll head out the Strait and turn left with the intent of joining the Ha-Ha before turning right.........

Yarrh,
Steve
