Lurking No More

Hi, I finally decided to join this forum. We are in Ft. Lauderdale. Hoping to get our 40' plywood catamaran to Rio Dulce Guatemala by the end of June. We have many projects to complete but are ready to prioritize our list and go soon. We left Hawaii last September intending to buy a Searunner 37' or 40' on the west coast. We ended up buying this cat in Ft. Lauderdale Florida in January 2011. We have fixed a lot of stuff but have a long way to go. I am following several threads here (Rocna's, open CPN, etc.) and intend to weigh in with questions soon. Our boat is a Hitch-hiker 40 design built in S Africa in 1997. Formerly Zakat, we have appropriately renamed her Thumbs Up. Ahoy!

Welcome and good luck completing all your projects. Actually, belay that, when you have a boat, you also have a perpetual project list. A boat is a perfect example of "Continuous Improvement". You will find many helpful folks here on a wide range of topics, in my short time here, I have been impressed by their willingness to help. James

From another newbie to CF, welcome aboard. Don't know about you, but for me the waiting is much harder than any of the projects I have planned.

I generally am a listener, but I will try to speak up. So much to learn and some much good advice already available here with the search feature.

Welcome to CF, I think the cat boys and girls need more support, and you are one of THEM. Kidding, I like all boats including cats and tris. Sometimes faster is better and you will need it to get south before the big H season. Post some photos of your boat and your projects.

Re: Lurking No More

hmmmm, no my lady is not a cat... she is a mono, a Bristol 34. Named after my maternal gradmother, Juresha Jane. She is sitting in my side yard while I bring the cabin back to life. Had some hard use over her 30+ years. Will post pic's as we progress along.
