We just got done removing her teak decks, will be installing nonskid, and replacing the teak inserts on the cabin top. For painting we have removed all the hardware and teak trim, quite a job! But with a 30 year old boat it was all do for re-bedding.

Have gained a lot of knowledge as to how these boats were put together the past two years and would be happy to share.

Hi Mike. I'd love to hear the details on the deck work. Cost, materials, time, choices involved, ... etc. If it's too much to type, maybe give me a phone call at (216)401-6813. /Matt

I like the flush deck fixture for raw water at the windlass to wash down the anchor chain , but have yet find the correct hose fitting to connect. Anyone out there with a similar system on their LN41?

Hi Warren,

I understand it's a factory install, mine has a standard hose bib on it, available at Loews or HDepot. Good Luck with it!

Re: Lord Nelson Sailboat Owners

Hi all,
Just saw this thread and thought I would check in as another LN owner. "EMBLA" is a 1982 model. We sailed to South America in 1997, crossed to Scandinavia in 2001, and are doing a major refit now (similar to Fairwind) in Vigo, Spain.

Re: Lord Nelson Sailboat Owners

My husband, Bob, and I, Betty, were visited by Sally and Allan Seymour onboard our Lord Nelson 41 sailboat in Rockland harbor, Maine on July 11. Since they did not have their dinghy with them (They keep their boat in nearby Camden) Bob picked them up in our dinghy and brought them to our boat, Lady Nelson. Sally is very much involved with the LNVT Association,
Lord Nelson Victory Tug Association. Their tug is #42 which is the 37' Victory Tug, named "Sally W". Sally and Allan had never been aboard a Lord Nelson sailboat and were very excited to see so many similarities. We talked about the history of the LN boats and she said that she has contact with Lani Hart. Since our boat, "Lady Nelson" was owned by Loren and Lani Hart, hull #54, Sally thought that Lani might like contact with us. Sally is giving Lani our contact information. We would love to know more about our boat from Lani Hart. Sally also proposed the idea that the existing LNVT Association be expanded to include Lord Nelson sailboats. The tugs and sailboats were built side by side at Ocean Eagle Yachts, Tiawan. What do you think?

Take a look at this extensive website for owners:

Lord Nelson Sailboat Owners

Hi everyone!
We are on a Lord Nelson, 35 feet and built in -87... We just got for two weeks ago and are getting in to the boat... We bought it from an old couple that had been the only owners since it got built, so we have much to keep up with!
We are in St. Maarten and are planning to cross the Atlantic back to Europe in a couple of weeks and at the moment we are preparing it, and are about to put on the new mast soon.
Beautiful boat!!

Re: Lord Nelson Sailboat Owners

As a former LN35 #6 owner whose wife thought we paid too much for the boat, you might get a kick out of watching the video in the first post on this CF thread:

Refit for a Union Polaris - Tank Removal

After a couple of years, my wife realized how well designed the Lord Nelson was whenever we needed to access tanks, wiring etc.
When I showed her the above video, she knowingly agreed with our original purchase decision as being a good one.

Removing a water tank in our LN35 was simply a matter of taking out drawers of the saloon table, lifting a couple of hatches and removal of 4 nuts on threaded rods.
After disconnecting tank hoses, lift out the tank(s).

BTW we never needed to do that as they were in great condition, but if we needed to, the process was obvious and was shown to us by the LN broker when we purchased the boat.
A similar procedure was involved with diesel tank removal as well as the engine.
Everything could be removed with NO cutting of any part of the boat.
Great design or what?
