Looking to Start a South FL to Bimini Race... Need Help

I am looking to get a race that will start in Ft. Lauderdale and Miami simultaneously and end in Bimini. I have little experience in hosting such an event so I would like to know who I should speak to about hosting such an event. If you know any Sailing Race Chairmen could you please point me in the right direction?

Aloha Quality,
Your best bet might be to call local Yacht Clubs in your area that hold regattas. Usually there are some Rear Commodores for Sail that chair race committees frequently. I don't have local knowledge of your area so can't be of direct help but offer that suggestion.
Kind regards,
JohnL

I would try and go to the boatyards or even the major marinas, one other suggestion is major suppliers ( Pier 66, Bahia mar, etc... ) or even Ft. Lauderdale Yacht Club, maybe even the Storm tri-sail club, if that all fails in January there is the feeder race to Key West on usually the third week of Jan. Maybe it could be associated to that whole scene. if that doesn't work check with premier-racing.com and contact Peter Craig, best wishes, sounds like fun.

Back in the day, the GUlfstream Sailing Club in Ft. Lauderdale used to sponsor a race from Miami to Bimini. You may want to check with them.

Harriet I totally forgot about that club, back 2002 I raced on a Hobie 33 called "Hot Stuff" and placed second in the regatta, I have the trophy right in front of and didn't even think about them, do you know if they got the location they wanted next to 17Th st. bridge?
