Thumbs up Looking to gain experience and a boat

Hello cruisers. I am a 42 year old male and have been interested in sailing for a number of years but have more recently have actually pursued it and I love it. I look to gain more experience by crewing boats as I have been and eventually purchase my own cruiser and sail into the sunset. Feel free to drop me a line if you are interested in any way. Happy sails

Where are you?

Have you been crewing for races, day sails or cruising?

Hi Crohe and welcome to the forum,

A location would be helpful. Maybe mention which continent or even which country. If one of the big countries like the USA then may be helpful to mention which coast.

Re: Looking to gain experience and a boat

Sorry about that. I do live in the US typically in North Georgia but travel all the time. I work in the Marine Seismic industry on a ship for oil/gas exploration and currently am in Scotland. I work a 5 week on and 5 week off schedule and the off time is where I like to get my sailing in. I have done day cruising and coastal cruising on sailboats and of course of shore ship work where I have worked as a navigator and now a data QC person. I would be interested in doing any sort of sailing including a race crew. My next break will be starting the week of thanksgiving.

Tons of opportunities out there, and you've taken step 1 to find 'em!

Not far from ya in N. MS btw...

Good luck!

Re: Looking to gain experience and a boat

Hi Chris,

Depending on where in N GA you might check the scene around Lake Lanier. They used to have weekend racing on the Lake and you could pick up some boat time with minimum travel.

Of course things do tend to taper off this time of year as N GA starts to cool down.
