Looking for Help Sarasota

Hi Guys, newbie here. Newbie to everything with a sail on it actually.
I'm looking at an endeavor in Palmetto, looks like a great boat. but i could use some help. before i plink down an airline ticket to fly me from NV to FL i'm hoping to find someone that would would be kind enought to look at the boat for me. Pictures are only so good right? i'm just looking for someone that can "look" at her for me and give me an honest opinion of her before i start throwing wads of cash at her.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks all.

Can't help you with the look - see, but welcome to CF!

The are probably several threads on here about Endevours, use the search engine and enjoy.

Hire a surveyor.

DotDun,

I plan to. but if every boat i'm interested in is going to cost me 7-800 bucks each time i get interested in it. heck, i'll be broke with no money to buy a boat soon....

Since i live in the desert (not for long i hope) i was just wanting a little help. a person can see a lot more with their eyes than any photo will ever show. maybe i'm being a cheap skate here??

So, you don't trust the words of the seller, but you will trust the words of anybody other than the seller?

The only unbiased opinion is a reputable surveyor.

Yep, it costs more to buy a boat than just the negotiated price.

i'll be down that way in a few weeks on vacation. i might be able to stop by and take a few pics for you and take a look. i'm no surveyor, and don't pretend to be. you'd be making your own decision from pics.

Fred--

We belong to the Bradenton YC and so are in the Palmetto area often. Where is the boat located? If you like, send me a PM with the details and I'll see what I can do.

FWIW...

Re: looking for help Sarasota

I once hired a surveyor for a one hour walk through for $50. it was on his schedule. He stopped by the boat and found spongy decks. Worth the $50 to dodge that one.

There is an endeavour owners forum at, you guessed it endeavourowners.com.

And, on another SailiNg (hint hint) web board there is an extensive list of people around the world who will volunteer to do exactly as you ask.

Good luck, an endeavour in good condition is a great boat.

I had the same done for a friend looking at a boat in Miami, he was in CT. Most surveyors, if they are in the area, will do a quick look for much less than a full survey. Even for $100 it would be worth it.

But I think you've got it covered with SVHyLyte

Re: looking for help Sarasota

Which Endeavour is it? They can differ greatly in construction and design. Knowing the model and year can help the forum to give advice. I have a 35 and it is a great boat but as with all boats, there are problem areas that are inherent to design/construction. Endeavour made some great boats and some not so great boats! Which one and what do you want to do with it?

Re: looking for help Sarasota

Wyoming Pirate,

It's an Endeavour 37. i like the 37 due to its headroom. it's listed as 6' 6" and i'm 6' 4" and when you look at the info on all the Endeavours it has the tallest. even the longer boats don't have that. it's an A plan also.

what can you tell me about the 37?

thanks.

Fred--

Nothing has appeared in my in box as yet. There may be a requirement that you have been a member for a certain period/number of posts before a PM will go through. As an alternative, try our boat email address:

svHyLyte(at)hotmail.com

I ususally don't check that unless we're on a cruise but I'll take a look after your next post just in case.

Regards,

svHyLyte
