Hi Cruisers, my name is Glenn. I have finally joined CruisersForum.com after many years of anonymous viewing. The reason I have joined now is someone called me a "yachty" the other day. I think they were having a go at me and it would seem it gets used in a derogatory manner more often than I realised but I promptly thanked them because I didn’t actually think I was worthy of the title. Needless to say their attempt at taking the piss backfired so here I am, finally worthy in my own mind of joining this forum. I love the
marine environment especially free
diving and
fishing, so up until now I have categorised myself as a
fisher who
sails, never really a "yachty" who fishes. But hey, if it walks like a duck and sounds like a duck .... and proud of it!
By way of
introduction I am the
skipper, owner and
builder of a
Kelsall FastKat custom 49’
Catamaran with a twin
mast Kelsall Cat rig. I
single hand (I know - groan from the purists) and I accept that feedback being an ex-Navy seamanship Officer, navigator and hydrographer, but my cruising area is well known to me and lends itself to
single handed sailing i.e. day passages. That is the entire
Great Barrier Reef from Fraser Island in the south to Torres Strait in the north. Right now I am in the Torres Strait having a spell and catching my fair share of
fish, crabs and oysters. My next move will be south through the GBR in Spring 2019. I single hand because I can but I am just as happy with other likeminded people in company or as crew.
Thanks for the forum and for letting me introduce myself. Happy
fishing ...oops I mean sailing.
