Long time coming

Been reading the forums for some time, now, but finally decided to participate.

Based in NC, I've been sailing as much as possible for the past year-or-so, and can't get away from thinking of it.
Boats, water, sailors, et cetera.

Interested in information about particular boats, book recommendations about the 'heros' of sailing, and almost everything else.

Looking forward to participating more!

There is so much to read here on this site.

But, if you are looking for some good reading about sailing, one of the forum members has a web blog that reviews books related to sailing. He writes very detailed reviews on many books. And I believe there is a separate forum section "Library" or some such (can't recall proper names now).

Enjoy your time on the water, or even armchair sailing too.

Welcome to the forum.

If you want to start with some of the older "heroes" of sailing try Joshua Slocum Sailing Alone Around the World. Richard Henry Dana Two Years Before the Mast to read about crewing on an old square rigger.

Some of the pioneers in cruising, all the books by Eric and Susan Hiscock, Miles and Beryl Smeeton. Newer generation: Tania Aebi, Robin Knox Johnson, Web Chiles, dozens more. For the story on minimalist sailing (no engine, no electric, bare basics) all the books by Lin and Larry Pardey.

This should keep you busy for a day or so.
