living aboard

Hi all. Just joined the forum a few days ago. We are living aboard our Admiral 38 catamaran; currently in Luperon, Dominican Republic. In the last year we retired, sold the house, cars & stuff, bought the boat and headed south. We will stay here until hurricane season is mostly over, then travel around the Caribbean for, well, as long as we are enjoying ourselves and the money holds out! "We" are husband, myself and our dog PK.

Sounds like you three are having a great time! We sold our home and bought the boat but can't cruise until my husband retires and my daughter finishes school (4 years and counting).

How did the selling out go? I'll be sailing the Caribbean for four weeks in mid November to mid December on a 38' Kennex Cat with a friend. Starting out Cumana, Venezuela and then traveling to St. Marteen. If all works out well, I may be selling out and rejoining the boat for the rest of the season in the Caribbean and then .... who knows where to after that. The selling out part is the scary part of the whole venture.

Luperon for hurricane season? What kind of a hit did you take from your insurance co. to be able to do that?

Sailing with dog

Hi
How is it taking the dog to the Caribbean? restrictions? what advice? We have thought about it, at the moment when we go boating the dog stays on land.
