Lifelong Boater Now into E-Boats

I've been over at TrawlerForum - it was suggested I come over here, too. A bit about me - I started boating (canoeing) at 8 years old at camp on Lake Tamagami in Ontario, Canada. Built a 10' kit boat at 13 - and opened Florida Bay Boat Company in 1980 to produce the Marsh Hen, Bay Hen, Mud Hen, Peep Hen (and other Hens) - all small sailing boats. Teamed up with Jay Benford to create the Florida Bay Coasters - large steel trawlers that emulated small ships.

Since then, I joined up with Jim Krogen and was the founding president of Krogen Express - more recently, I started Island Pilot to build both fast cruising yachts and more recently, hybrid, live-aboard yachts - The DSe.

I'm hoping to enjoy swapping yarns and trading info here on Cruisers Forum.

The attached video appeared on Discovery Channel's HD Theater - it is not a sponsored video. Enjoy.

Reuben,

Welcome to CF. I just came across your battery upgrade that I posted here http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...65069-174.html

If you use the search function on this forum it will assist you in finding threads on electric trawlers, electric propulsion (many long threads on this) and somewhere I highlighted the DSe 12 but for the time I can't find it.

I still can't find that thread, but here is one of the many on electric propulsion. http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...-64021-22.html

Re: Lifelong Boater Now into E-Boats

I still couldn't find the thread but back in September I mentioned the DSe on this thread http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...-76555-12.html

I forgot just how many threads we have on solar electric propulsion. Sorry about the figures I quoted being wrong. For our own post histories, they only go back to the last 500 posts, so I must have posted about your boat more than 500 posts ago.

You can always post to the above thread and give it new life.

Took a day for your intro video to appear, maybe a mod thing for a 1st time poster.

Re: Lifelong Boater Now into E-Boats

haw1961,

You got that right. With his past, current, and future creations, my next boat might be one of his designs. I'm going to jump ship from sailboats to silent motorboat cruisers. He is combining hull efficiency with diesel-electric solar assisted propulsion. His avatar is a current design (well 6 years old now) and a future design presently at 1/4 scale is going through drag testing to facilitate a very efficient hull design.
