Let's Get this Party Started !

Hello all- I am excited to be writing my first blog to the sailing world. I am a complete novice and know nothing more than that I love adventure and the ocean! Growing up in Arizona made for a limited ocean experience. There are so many questions that I have and I have no idea where to begin or how long it will take me to realize my dream of living on a boat and sailing around. At this time, my goal is to stay fairly close to land and sail up and down the coast.

Any recommendations of where I should start?

Cheers everyone!

Re: Let's get this party started!

Mario, Welcome to the forum. Where to start?,- What about sailing skills? Do you already know how to sail? Even far from the ocean there are opportunities to learn sailing in small boats on lakes. All the skills learned on a small boat are tranferred to sailing a larger boat. Things happen faster on a small boat and the response to your actions are more immediate. I'd always recommend learning to sail on a small boat.

Welcome to the forum.

There is a lot to read here. Just start on page one and work your way backwards. Can take years.

Where to start? Start in FL in the summer - a different kind of heat.

Welcome to the forum. The US east coast has lots of places for new sailors to get their sea legs.

Aloha and welcome aboard!
I always recommend a basic sailing course to a person who hasn't had one. It gets you off on the right foot.
kind regards,
