Hi Fred and welcome to CF. I am not too familer with the southeast but there are tons of members who are.

Good luck in your relocation. I spent a few years landlocked and it was pure "heck".

Welcome Fred...Although home for me is Long Island Sound, a few years ago
I spent some time on The Abamerle and Palmlico Sounds.
Some great sailing and towns along N. Carolinas "inner banks"
(western shores) close to ocean and ICW...some towns/cities
I remember enjoying...from north to south? Edenton, Washinton,
New Bern, Oriental...I believe one can sail 10-12 months a year
if you don't mind it cool...It does get cool, but snow is
rare. Check locals. Good people...good food...good sailing.
Points that come to mind that may be of concern...Things
seem pretty spread out...lots of driving...to larger cities...
cultural centers, hospitals...airports...
Good Luck, Hugo

Wecome Fred. I will put a vote in for the Chesapeake Bay area of either Maryland or Virginia. Great people and great sailing.

PS: I have a house for sale in Norfolk, VA that's 1 block from the beach and 2 blocks to the marina.

Good to meet you Fred,
I am currently landlocked, but have spent time in both Virginia North Carolina and Florida for that matter. I could put in a good word for North Carolina, nice climate and some very pretty ligthouses.
