Landlocked in Montana

Hello all! Longtime lurker, new member. As the title suggusts, I'm currently landlocked in Montana. My name is Justin, I"m 28. Veteran of the Marine Corps, '03-08.

I'm plannning on purchasing a used sailboat in the next year or two, will elaborate in a later thread in the appropriate forum section. Just wanted to introduce myself!

Re: Landlocked in Montana

Hi Justin! Go for it! Two of our best cruising boat friends were actually from "landlocked" Montana.

Both cruised full-time for a bunch of years - one bought their boat in the Rio Dulce, Guatemala engineless and hauled a brand new Yanmar diesel down in a pickup truck piled with crap looking like the Beverly Hillbillies so no one would see it.

These days, both couples have sold their boats and are currently "cruising" the world -- one couple is in Nepal and the other was headed to India -- they live in other cultures for six months or more at a time - another way to experience the world. Have fun & go for it!

Re: Landlocked in Montana

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Thanks for your service. I've always had a great deal of respect for Marines since serving with them (Navy) from time to time.
I recommend a basic sailing course if you've never tried it on a small boat.
kind regards,
