Landlocked in Missouri

Living in Northwest Missouri makes it a little rougher convincing the wife we need a sailboat . But i haven't given up just yet. We do live within a mile of the Missouri River,my plan/dream is to sail from Saint Joseph Mo. to the Gulf of Mexico. Most of my friends with boats hardly ever go more than 3 miles from the boat ramp, needless to say "they" have no desire to go any further.
After years of talking of this I have yet to find anyone in my area the least bit interested.

I would give anything to have a chance to do some water sailing">blue water sailing, but I have to keep it real, for now.

To all of you out there doing it"blue water sailing", I'm jealous.

Welcome aboard MrWrench! Sounds like a charter (with a captain) in the Caribbean may help win over your wife, especially during a long mid west winter... also will give you a chance to experience some Island hopping... bring some friends you will need to win them over as well, as you will be needing crew for your eventual cruise down to the Gulf. Or come to the northeast
and sail we're always looking for crew!... You might want to wait till the spring for that... Check the sailing/yacht clubs, must be some cruise minded sailors on the Missouri. Hugo

Charter in a cool location, provide cool drinks ...

Except that once someone understands that charter is better than ownership ...
