Lancer 28

I'm going to look at a 1978 lancer 28 sailboat. Does anybody know about this boat. What should I look for when inspecting the boat. All help would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: Lancer 28

I dont know much, but do know they tend to have toe rail leaks. Watch for evidence of that.

Sailed one in College ages ago. They built a butt-ton of them, so they had to have something going for them.

They are heavily built and a few have made crossed the pond to Europe. They point ok, and sail better than they look.

They had/have some mast compression issues and they have a cored deck, so check it well for soft spots, etc.

Forgot to add, check the keel bolts well, they may need replacing.

Re: Lancer 28

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Read up about the Lancer 28. Many things I've read is that they are lightly built. I could be wrong so you'll have to do your own searching.

kind regards,
