Hi I'm new here and interested in all the topics that are being discussed.
I live in Rockford, IL and plan to sail out of Winthrop Harbor this summer.
I eventually want to motor down to the Gulf in our S2 11.0 A with a 5'.6"
keel. I know it will be a little deep for some areas as I have read. Any advice will be appreciated. Will be looking forward to lots of interesting days ahead.
Thanks,
Dave

JohnL: Are you on the big Island? Where do you keep your boat?
If I move to Big Island, where do I keep my boat?

Aloha Sans,
Keeping a boat on the Big Island is a problem. Waiting list for slips in the only Marina (Honokahau) Kona is about 15 years. That's 100 miles drive from where I live. Moorings are possible but safe mooring areas are hard to find.
I live on the Hilo side and my boat is in my yard under repair. Pretty soon after I launch and do sea trials I intend to sail to PNW and start my parttime cruising down the West Coast.
Ask specific questions and I'll try to answer the best I can. RoverHI is on the Kona side and could probably give you more information about his area.
Kind Regards,
JohnL
