Just Saying Hello

Good day everyone,

Well, after an 11 year stint in Northern Manitoba I have made the decision to head back to Vancouver Island and begin a new journey. I will be purchasing a vessel upon my return and will begin a new chapter in my life. I have studied all I can find regarding sailing and after two years of preparation I feel it is time to step forward. Looking forward to learning from as many of you that are willing to answer my questions (I am sure I will have many).
Wonderful to be aboard.

Sail, Bluewater capable. Looking at three vessels at the moment, unfortunately I am still in the middle of Canada. Once I reach the west coast and can view them properly with some professional guidance I will be making the investment. Should be back there by Aug 20th. 2014

Welcome here. Vancouver used to be an old tromping ground. Never sailed but dove in that area. Ever hear of the Vanquatics?

I was there 2 years '68 and '69 but been to Courtenay many times since. Lot of sail boats around Granville Bridge-you can inspect many just from there. Was going to sail from there to Australia, but ended up buying a $600 plane ticket. Good luck in your adventures.

Re: Just Saying Hello

An update.........I found her!!!! Well after looking at an endless amount of vessels she finally found me. A wonderfully cared for Swedish built "Vindo". 36' full keel. 9 tons of art. The previous owners were reluctant to let her go to just anyone. We spent 8 1/2 hours together looking her over from bow to stern, shared many stories and I made an offer. (with some conditions of course). She is a heavy girl but with a nice gust she picks up and sails well. I have had her out 3 times now for some day sails and we get along just wonderfully. I am putting her on the hard next week again for some bottom paint. Time was not a luxury on the first haul out unfortunately.

Regards.
