Just Saying Hello

Hi There

I just joined the forum, although I have been a lurker for quite some time now (at least a couple of years). I enjoy reading the posts of others, and finally decided to get in the game.

My home port is Horseshoe Bay and I live out the valley in Abbotsford. I cruise up and down the coast a fair bit and in 2006 I did a single-handed circumnavigation of Vancouver Island in my 1976 Catalina 27.

I do contract work as a consultant, so I have some fairly large chunks of time off. This means lots of time on the boat in the summer, and lots of time hunting and fishing in the winter. It's a good life, and I hope to keep it for a while.

Welcome – you’ve been lurking longer than me, and from the looks of things more experienced too, so I’ll just be sitting here taking notes…

Welcome!

Don't know anything about the west coast, but a long time ago I spent a week sailing on a 70 something Cat 27 with an Atomic 4 engine in Connecticut/Rhode Island. It was a strong, capable, and fairly roomy boat. I think we removed the dinette table and replaced it with something smaller - or maybe that was the Hunter 27, dunno - getting old. Have fun.

Aloha RMcBride,
Welcome aboard!! Good to have you here. My first boat was a Catalina and I have fond memories of her and all the sailing fun.
Kind Regards,
JohnL

Welcome aboard from another fellow Westcoaster. We probably share the same waters. I am moored close to the southern ferry terminal. Have been through HB many times. I too enjoy the fishing and cruising on the west coast. Enjoy the posts.
